She is fastened to both ceiling and wall by means of a metal bolt where her hair is parted. Stefan Ettlinger almost exclusively uses already existing pictures as a source for his paintings. In a process akin to zapping, he picks scenes and fragments from among the well-nigh inexhaustible glut of images from television, videos, magazines, postcards and his own recordings. These are subsequently fused into rambling landscapes whose individual picture elements radiate watercolor-like in thick brush strokes.
